They had gotten him after all then. This wasn't happening, this couldn't be real. It had to be some sick joke or a nightmare…a nightmare I couldn't wake up from.
"Bella…" someone called softly and slowly. "Are you okay?" I wasn't even tuned in with reality to hear who said something to me. I was frozen staring at the wrist band on the table with my eyes wide open.
Alice reached out a hand to comfort me but I flinched away. This had to be a mistake. Edward couldn't be gone like this. He just had to be out there, somewhere…and I was going to find him, or at least attempt to

I must have fallen asleep from the exhaustion of the previous night's events. Sunlight danced through the windows, but even its cheerful glimmer couldn't release me from my sadness. When I first opened my eyes, I thought last night had been just a horrible nightmare, but when I rolled onto my side, there was no one beside me. The picture still remained clutched in my hands. That was the only Edward that greeted me good morning, or was it more properly said, "Bad Morning?"
